Dog Wedding or Dogs at Weddings
About 3 times per annum I get asked to photograph a Wedding that has a dog either as a guest or even participating in the actual service. So far an actual dog Wedding has evaded me but I am open to offers!
If you are planning to bring your dog to your Wedding, there are a few things that you may want to consider first:
1) Does your venue allow Dogs, if so what areas are they allowed in
2) Will the Celebrant allow them, I have yet to see a Dog in a Church and I suspect that I never will
3) Is anyone that is playing a key part in the day allergic to dogs or maybe terrified of them. As a dog lover I can’t understand that but it does happen
4) What part will they play, will he or she deliver the rings for you, will they be at the service, will they just be an ordinary guest
5) What about after the day, will they be allowed to stay in your room with you – would you want that:-)
6) What happens to them during the dancing, some dogs are terrified of loud music
7) I’d strongly advise identifying a friend that the dog is familiar with and making them responsible for the dog, you will be too busy and someone has to make sure they are walked, fed and watered.
So, here are a few photographs of dogs at recent Weddings
This was Rufus and the Wedding was at Monachyle Mhor, they allow dogs in some rooms but not the dining room
This was Rosie and this was also at Monachyle Mhor
This is Cadbury and the Wedding was at Forbes of Kingennie who allow dogs to play a part in the service and also at the meal. Only 1 lodge is dog friendly
I can;t remember the name of this dog, he was not at the service or the meal but was brought out for the photographs. The venue is Dunkeld Hilton
This is Isla, she was not allowed in the Church but the reception was at Ballathie and she appeared to be playing a part in the reception.
The Chauffer played his part too
