University of St Andrews Rectorial Drag

Yes I know it sounds like a medical procedure but it isn’t. On Monday I was in St Andrews for the Rectorial Drag, this is when the new Rector is dragged through the town in an old carriage, he stops at various student places (mainly bars) where he introduces himself to the students in advance of his formal inauguration the next day. Traditionally the new Rector arrives at the drag in an unusual way, in the past new Rectors have been delivered by the Royal Mail, arrived on horseback or sailed into the port.
