Wedding Photography at Castle Menzies, Aberfeldy. Paul and Kirsty
I know that last time I said that Forbes of Kingennie was one of my favourite venues, well Castle Menzies is up there with that. It’s a different type of venue, you simple rent the castle and then do everything else yourself. There are obvious advantages and disadvantages to that arrangement but it certainly makes the day personal.
This was my third Weding here, the last one was march 09 when I had the pleasure to work with Phil and Jo who only held the service in the castle, the reception being at Kenmore Hotel.
Paul and Kirsty did the whole lot themselves, I know that they worked incredibly hard and the castle looked stunning. I caught up with them both at the Fortingall Hotel where they had both been staying and trying very hard to avoid each other at breakfast.
Paul was very relaxed about the whole day, he reckoned it was because he was so exhausted after carrying all the chairs and tables around the castle.
I left them to it and headed over to the Castle to photograph the table settings.
Hadn't they done well, the room looked absolutely stunning.
Paul was waiting patiently for Kirsty to climb the 80 odd steps to the top room for the service. It was baking hot up here and everyone was sweating.
Boy it was dark though, for other Photographers reading this blog we were at 1600 ISO at f2.8 and a 60th of a second, pretty much darkness!! However, it does show the advantages of investing in good kit and fast sharp lenses, sorry to sound like I am preaching but the photographers that are doing Weekend Weddings on £300 cameras would really struggle here.
More later.
